This past fall was a pivotal time in my career in the Editor’s Chair when I got the call to interview for FOX TV’s new spin-off of their high-profile procedural drama entitled: 9-1-1 starring Angela Basset and Peter Krause.

I was more than ready to get into the seat and the experience has shown me that there’s always so much more to learn within this elusive Invisible Art of Motion Picture Editing.  You can see my handy work (and that of my trusty Assistant Editor Maxx Capps) this month when the series premieres in a two-night double header. The pilot episode (cut by the masterful Ravi Submaranian airs on Sunday, Jan 19th immediately following the NFL’s NFC Championship Game (10/9c); followed up by Episode 2 entitled: “Yee Haw” in the series regular time slot on Monday, Jan 20 (8/7c), edited by yours truly. The pilot episode is brimming with an amazing ensemble of characters, lots of action, adventure and emotion.  My episode wastes no time in getting wheels up and getting viewers off their rockers. There’s tons of articles and press around the web if you want more details before taking in the series next week.  But from me to you, I say, just sit back, grab your seat and hold on tight!
